I noticed The Events Calendar is listed as an answer in the wiki (yay!), but wanted to offer a point of clarification since I’m on the team that makes it.
If you’re looking to manage events & event content, our free plugin is awesome.
You used the phrase “managing event submissions”, which makes me think you may actually be looking for a WordPress plugin that allows users to submit events to your site from the front-end.
We have a paid add-on for that called Community Events. Like all of our premium plugins, it also includes premium support access so you’ve got someone to help if you come across issues while running it on your site.
So if you’re ultimately looking for a plugin that will allow visitors to add their own events to your site, you want to look for these key terms:
- Community Events
- Front-end event submission
- User event submission
- User-added events
It’s important to read the descriptions closely to see if the plugin can do what you really want it to do. Some examples of that are:
- Require user login before submitting an event
- Publish events automatically
- Hold submitted events as a draft for review
- Limit fields/options/etc on the event submission form
WP Event Manager is a lightweight, scalable and full-featured event management plugin for adding event listing functionality to your WordPress site. The shortcode lists all the events, it can work with any theme and is really easy to setup and customise. The settings pages let you select how you want the event displayed.
Hope this helps!
